5:54 6 minutes.
Elizabeth had been starring at the clock for twenty-two minutes and…seventeen seconds. But what the hell for?
His Arrival.
Elizabeth had called him at 4:30, and left a message asking him to meet her at her house at six. Honestly, she wasn’t sure if he would show up. She needed to explain certain event though. He needed to show up. For her sanity. And then they had to talk about their relationship. She was happy, perfectly happy, but she didn’t think for a second he was. How could he be? She randomly flew out of the state. Twice. She know is was horribly rude, but these were dire situations here. Family matters. If Adrienne’s problems weren’t enough, what ever the hell was going on in New York with her father was.
Elizabeth sighed, as the clock number’s changed, and she twisted a signal strand of dirty-blond-again hair around on of her light pink painted nails. God. This was horrible. She was sitting her, sweat pants and overly big tee shirt clad….waiting.

He'd been sitting there, outside her home, in his roadster, contemplating going inside. The window on his side of the car was rolled down, his elbow sitting in the opening. Not once did his gaze flick towards her home though, but instead stared through the car's windshield, as he absently watched evening switch to night.
Dropping his gaze, he read the time, seeing that it was 5:59 p.m. He might as well go in, but he didn't know what to expect, or how they'd stand when he left her home many hours later. Of course, he wouldn't know until he went inside and found out. Throwing his shades unto the passenger seat, he stepped from the vehicle, closing the door behind him. Walking across the street to Elizabeth's place, he reached out a hand, ringing the doorbell.
Patiently waiting for someone to come to the door, he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his dark blue jeans, leaning against a post and looking calm. His whole look was casual, from the non-diliberately tousled hair, to the white tee shirt which semi-clung to his torso. Leaning against a post, he did his best to look calm, wondering what all would be said...

Hearing the doorbell, Elizabeth nearly fell off the couch. He was here. He was here. Dear sweet, Jesus…He was here. Picking herself up from the couch, Elizabeth moved towards the door, and rested her hand on. Here we go. She gently pulled it open to meet Cole with a smile. A real one, this time.
“You’re here.” Elizabeth stated, apparently thinking she was Captain Oblivious. Of course he was here. Se knew he would show up all along…rightt. Holding out a hand to him, and widening the door to let him in, Elizabeth took a once over of him. Yes. This was her Cole. The Cole she had met not to long ago that hadn’t been hitting on her the first night at the club. Rightt. She still doesn’t believe that he wasn’t.
“C’mon I have a life-time worth of shit to tell you.”

Lifting his gaze from the ground when the door was opened, Cole settled his glance on Elizabeth, immediately noting the smile on her face. She wasn't faking it this time. Silently, he took a deep breath, thinking everything about this night would be difficult. His thoughts were muddled, and he was confused...and he couldn't share none of it with Liz. Not yet. If ever. Not until he was sure about everything that was going on in his life right about now.
"Yeah, I'm here," he murmured, solidifying her statement. Eyeing the hand she held out to him, he straightened up, placing his own in hers. Allowing his palm to close around her smaller hand, he threaded their fingers together, moving closer to her. Dropping a peck on her cheek, he nodded slowly, not knowing what it could be she'd have to tell him, but ready to hear either way. "I'm all ears," he said, stepping into her home and waiting for her to spill it.

Elizabeth shut the door behind him, and lead him into the living room, and plopped down on the couch, waiting for him to folllow suit. “Um. First. I’m sorry…I kind just left...but this time I have a valid excuse. Adrienne got into some…trouble in NYC, and I had to go and sign away my life and limb. Here. I’d rather you read it, then me say it.”
Elizabeth handed him a copy of the police report and a copy of the rape kit results. Though, it was not in detail, the Police report was horrific. Touching on places like how she had been beaten, and then raped, and then beaten again, and kicked out. At least it wasn’t gory. The stack of papers on the table was still thick though. It consisted of her court order, and the list of charges, and her father court order and charges. Dear. Aren’t we a little disfunticional.

Merely quirking his brows at her words, Cole looked at her skeptically as he recieved the papers she handed over to him. Finally looking them over, his face changed from that of shock, to that of a completely blank slate. Wow, was all he could think. Sitting there unmoving for a few moments, he ran his gaze ove the document once more, making sure he'd read it all right and hadn't just imagined it. Talk about some fucked up shit.
Setting the papers down, he turned to Elizabeth. "Don't worry about having left me," he said just then, ruffling his hair. "Is she doing alright?" he asked, concerned about Adrienne after suffering such an ordeal. Ugh. He didn't know what to say, and that lame question was the only thing that managed to pop into his brain. Niiice.

“She’s in denial. Last night when I asked her about it, she pretended she didn’t know what I was talking about, picked up a book, and read it. All of it. For six hours. Adrienne, number one, can not sit still. She’s got ADD. Number two, Adrienne doesn’t read ever. Everything was negative on the test but I think she thinks she going to have a baby or die or something…It’s sort of depressing.”
Elizabeth was starring into his eyes, at it was the first time she had ever really realized what color they were. Yea, she knew. And Yea if someone asked her, she could tell them, but never had she realized they had so much depth. And they were all perfect on top of it. Nice.

Ooc: As Cole...
Ic:|| "Mmm, well. Hope she slips out of it eventually," Cole murmured, wrapping an arm around Elizabeth's shoulders and gently toying with a lock of her hair. He smiled lightly, forgetting about everyone but Liz for the current moment. "Is that everything you had to tell me?" he asked her, wondering if there was more. And if there was, his girlfriend was one of the strongest people he knew. To take like the weight of her family unto her shoulders and still manage to be there when she could be for him. Maybe he was being selfish in everything he'd been doing... Mentally, he apologized to her, but didn't voice it.
Now he knew why she'd been so down at Cotillion. Worried about her sister, about her family. Glancing away from her, he bit the inside corner of his lip, feeling a wave of guilt wash over his body. He hadn't done anything, but still. It felt like he did... For his thoughts about Layne... Things were just getting more complicated and heavy as the day progressed.

Elizabeth let out a sort of laugh, almost a chuckle.
“Heh. Umm, just a wittle bit. Just a wittle… So there’s this…thing my father…and mother…are really into. Money, basically. They exchange info for cash. Like, if mother A wanted to know if Mother b was bribing her children, then mother A would go talk to my mother, whom would go take a little look-see and report back to Mother A. Are you following? Mother A would then pay my mother for her services. Then, because we just happen to have this information, we use it for a profit against other people. Make sense? Good. Well you see, I got everyone into just a tad bit of a problem…I got drunk, and I leaked the wrong secret to the wrong person, and now, we’ve lost a bargaining chip to keep Adrienne out of jail after this whole big thing a year or so ago. But like I said, “ Elizabeth switched to a whisper, held up a hand, pinched the air between her fingers, closed one eye, squinted in the other and said, “Just a wittle.”
Oh yeah. Just a little.

Jeeze. Talk about a dysfunctional family -- from the parents to the kids. Even his family wasn't anywhere near this messed up. It was difficult for him to formulate any type of a reply to everything she was telling him, and it was evident by the moments of silence which wrapped around them. Uncomfortable, as tight as a noose. What was bothering him was the fact that she couldn't be open to him about everything which had occured...upfront. It wouldn't have roused so many questions in his head about them, and definitely wouldn't have allowed him to think about hooking up with someon else, he believed. And what was this 'big thing' from a year ago? It was way too much to digest in one setting.
"So that's what's been stressing you," he stated rather than asked, knuckles of one hand brushing down the curve of her cheek. "You know Elizabeth," he began, pad of his thumb gliding slowly over her soft lower lip. "You could have told me everything from the beginning and I wouldn't have liked you any less. I mean, there's no need for secrets," he murmured. He himself didn't technically wasn't hiding anything, mainly because he hadn't cheated. Sure there was a bit of guilt for even thinking about it, but still. "Sharing your problems removes a lot of weight."
Leaning forward, he pecked her lips briefly, pulling back slightly to stare into her eyes. "I'm going to stick by you through all this, and if you need any help don't hesitate to ask," he said sincerely, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. "You sure that's everything you wanted to tell me?" he asked after a moment, figuring if there was more she might as well say it now than put it off any longer.

“I would have told you…but I didn’t know. I literally found out twenty seconds before I had to do my cotillion entrance. As for that other crap. I don’t know. At the time it wasn’t s problem. A stitch in time saves nine. Buddha.”
Crowing into Cole’s lap, Elizabeth let out a sigh, and then with a playful nudge stated,
“Ok, Mr.Never-Help-Me-With-Anything-Because-I’m-big-Wuss-And-Was-Never-taught-How-To-Lean-On-Some-One,”
Aww, they’re so cute. Wrapping her arms around Cole waist, Elizabeth laid her head on Cole’s chest and closed her eyes.
‘Now would be the ideal time to tell me if you’ve gotten into any random bull shit in the time I’ve been away. And don’t tell me nothin’. ‘Cause I know you, Mr. Hill.”

Holding his girlfriend snug in his arms, Colby smirked. "Whatever," he chuckled, letting her hair down, gently tangling his fingers within the locks. Not able to stop the smile which lazily glided into place upon his lips, he slightly rolled his eyes. "Oh you know me now? Miss Martin?" he asked, using his free hand to softly poke her in the side. "Let's see. I got tangled up with some bad people whilst gambling on the underground. I paid the debts off though. Legally," he stressed the last word, so as to make her know it wasn't by hacking into anybody's computer or anything along those lines. He'd earned back the dough playing poker and the selling of a legit program. Yeah, that was about it. On the usual Cole problems that is. As for Layne...
"And I met this chick at the harbour the other day," he told her, wondering how much he should reveal. "Layne," he added, knowing she knew who it was. "We got to talking and whatever. Even went for a swim at the beach. Seems she believes I led her on or something, but before any sort of flirting could even start up I told her I had a girlfriend. Let us just say she didn't take that fact too well." He shrugged, as there wasn't anything he could do on that end of things. No flirting hadn't started, and he hadn't cheated. He was somewhat attracted to the girl but he wouldn't have allowed anything to happen or for her to intentionally believe something could happen. End of story.

“Funny. Layne didn’t tell me. Whateves, I guess.”
Bleh. Layne. Sweet girl, really. But…just…not like the girls in the OC are. Theres nothing wrong with being different, it was more accepting differences.
“I didn’t know you went to casino’s…you seem like the stick-up-the-ass type, I’m afraid to say, bebe. But I think I’ve worked a lot of that out. I don’t like to gamble…on cards.” Hmm. This was interesting. First the Layne bit, and then gambling. Elizabeth didn’t know he was that hardcore. There were casinos just outside the OC. They only underground ones she knew of was where her mother deals. You can only imagine what kind of filth is there, especially with her mother dealing blackjack. Ew.

"Oh screw you," Colby smirked, once again poking her in the side. Calling him a stick-up-the-ass sort of guy. Well, in a sense he was, but his character had indeed changed a lot since he'd gotten with Elizabeth. "I gamble on cards because...I have a wicked hand at poker. I rarely lose, and could rack up the cash quite quickly. Lots of it too. Didn't I ever tell you I was planning to do the World Series of Poker?" he asked with a raised brow. It was a program which aired on ESPN, and the prize money was alright. That wasn't the reason he wanted to do it though. It was more about pride and love of the game itself. To prove to others that he was right up there with the best of them.
"Well, that's it bad news and major happenings-wise. Anything else you wanna talk about?" he asked her, as he trailed his fingers through her hair still. Pressing his lips to her temple, he nuzzled her hair, eyelids now having sinked closed. Although he'd never admit it, he'd missed these moments with her. When they could just be themselves...and talk. No arguments, no separation...gladly no cell phone. He should just get up and do a jig right now because of that.

Elizabeth cocked her head to the side, and looked at him blankly.
“You never told me. That’s not fair. I’m always out of the loop.”
Elizabeth looked up at him with a smile. His grayish blue eyes were so cute, and he himself was gorgeous. But so were other guys. So what made Cole so amazing? Elizabeth took a second and paused. Why was he so amazing? Ah. Then it hit her. She knew exactly what she saw in Cole.
Lifting her head, Elizabeth pressed her lips to Cole forehead, and let out a giggle.
“You’re adorable. Incredibly, so.”
