Devin was fuming! Not to mention had a bleeding lip. Devin and Drek had gotten in a fight throwing punches and everything. Devin had finally gotten up and ran out to the boardwalk. And now? Now Devin was pissed as hell. Pulling at his plain green shirt trying his best to straighten it out over the black jeans he had on. "The little ass."He muttered as soon as he tasted the blood coming into his mouth. He was sure he was bruised up pretty bad, It truly wouldn't surprise him. Running a hand through his hair trying to tidy it up he sighed. "I hope someone doesn't think I just murdered someone."He whispered to himself as he sat down on a bench looking down at his black vans.

It was late, Layne was bored, and who liked sitting at home at an empty apartment? So here she was, strolling down the boardwalk staring at the moon. Her hands were shoved in the pockets of her dark washed skinny jeans, but one rose to tug down the black zip down jacket that was over a neon green cami. She looked overly casual and hated it. Her dark brown hair sat messily on her shoulders, Layne having not bothered to do anything fancy. It's not like she expected to see anyone. And just as she'd told herself that, who did she spot muttering to himself? Devin. "Devin?" she called, picking up pace. She didn't notice his cuts until he was in much closer view. Night blindness pretty much sucked. "Omgsh Devin, what the heck happened?" he looked mighty angry. "Are you okay?" she added, examining his wounds. Whoever did this got him good. And where was Drek? She could've sworn they were attatched at the hip.

"Hey Layne"Devin said looking up he knew everyones voice. Or the voices of who he knew. "Me and Drek got in a fight, thats what happened."He said bitterly touching his lip then wincing. "I don't know. I hurt. Pretty bruised but fine other than that."He said He brushed some hair out of his eyes. He pulled up his pants by the red belt around his waist then tugged down the lime green polo with the white undershirt. Popping up the collar he leaned agiasnt the railing. "Whats up with you?"He asked trying to change the subject.

"Hey," she said in a worried voice, remembering she had yet to before. "Geez. Must've been some fight." she winced looking at him. He really didn't look good. "Um, I'm okay I guess. Just going for a walk." She couldn't help but divert the conversation back to him. "So what was this fight about, exactly?" she asked, hoping it wasn't over anything too serious. All she needed was for them to be this big suare(sp?) between the two. Hopping up onto the railing that outstretched across the entire boardwalk, Layne sighed. Well, at least her night wasn't as boring as she'd thought it was going to be.

"He wants to move, back with our grandparents during the school year. To go to school there. And I don't want him to."Drek said rubbing below his bruised eye. Yeah he knew he didn't look good. "I never knew he could fight so good."Devin added with another bitter laugh. "So, he is, he is gonna move back, and I'm going to end up all alone here."He said giving a half hearted smile to her.

Layne nodded as he spoke, intently listening to his story. "I'm sorry," she choked out, her face falling. How sad. Layne had always been alone, being an only child, so she could imagine how he was feeling. But now her cousin was coming to live with her, so things would be different. "Well, I'll always be here," she added with a smile, fishing in her pockets for something to write with. Pulling out a sharpie triumphantly, she plucked off the cap and outstretched his hand, quickly scribbling her phone number onto it. "So you don't forget," she said with a smile. "Congrats. You're the first person to get my number." Giggling, her eyes moved to the water. It was even more beautiful at night, as if it were even possible.

Devin gave a small smile looking up at her. "Thanks."He said chuckling as she grabbed his hand. "I won't forget."He took out his side kick and put the number in putting Layne above the number. "Yes! I feel special!"He declared happily. "The water looks good, doesn't it?"He asked turning to face the water with the moon on it. "Nights like these should last forever.. Or, the good parts stood stay like this"He said smiling.

"Yeah, definately." she nearly whispered, her eyes still glued to the waterline. "And yes, you should be happy." she said, turning to him. "You're the luckiest lucky there is." Layne smiled a genuine one, resting her palms on the railing. "Heckyess I'm in your phone." she exclaimed, making a fist and quickly tucking it to her hip. Her Napolian Dynomite move was indeed very funny, and she couldn't help but giggle a bit. "See, things aren't that bad." she said to him, finally looking his way.

Devin nodded then smiled a true smile. One of his whole hearted ones. "Really? Me lucky?"He asked chuckling. "Psht yeah!"He said laughing at her Napolian Dynomite move. He laughed happily "No, things aren't so bad."He said laughing. "Thanks!"He added looking at her with a small grin on his face. "For showing up."

"Yes, you. Very lucky." Layne poked him gently in the rib, careful not to hurt him. So she was cheering him up. That was good in itself. At least she'd accomplished /something/ today. "Yeah. I mean, it's a pretty night, there's finally some quiet, and-- oh look! A guy with an ice cream cart!" Grabbing his hand, she pulled Devin to where the man with the jingly cart was. "We'll have," she stopped, looking to Devin for approval. Biting the inside of her lip, she glanced back to the man, impatient to get her ice cream. Layne was never one to have much patience; especially when ice cream was involved. "And you're welcome," she added with a small smile to Devin, referring to his last comment.

"I'll have something chocolate, I don't know about her."He said chuckleing at the poke in his stomach and then her pulling him forward to the ice cream cart. "I'll pay."He added since he already had his wallet out. "Now, hurry. What do you want?"He asked looking at her a smirk on his face. "I'll owe you one."He added smiling some more. Okay, so maybe he wouldn't, or maybe he would.. Maybe this would be his owe her one.

"Ooooh. Oooh. Do you have those shaved ice thingies?" she asked excitedly, clasping her hands together in delight and bouncing up and down a bit. She turned to Devin. "I just love those." A playfully silly smile was tickling her lips, and Layne was simply overjoyed to be ordering ice cream at this time of night. Her eyes lit up when the man plucked a yellow cone from the cart, holding it out to her like a prize. Rather than speaking, she merely squealed and reached for it. However, she stopped. "Thanks," she began, directing her comment to Devin, but also nodding briefly to the ice cream man. "Nah. I'd say we're about even now." With a smile, Layne grabbed the ice cream and began taking off the wrapper. Once this task was accomplished, she picked up a spoon from the dispenser and began chipping away at the masterpiece; until, that is, she gathered enough ice to eat it. Just after spooning another small dose into her mouth, she turned to Devin, hit by the lemon-y flavor. Attempting to smile was quite fun. "Mmmm" she mused, trying her best to swallow the quickly melting liquid. Once her mouth was empty, she finally spoke. "Now /this/ is a shaved ice."

"They are pretty good."Devin said agreeing with her. Devin nodded his head to her smiling. He paid the Icecream dude then looked at Layne "Only about even?"He asked laughed Devin grinned quite happy. "Yeah that looks like it!"He said licking away at his own icecream chuckling and trying hard not to drop the cone because of the silly girl near him. "You silly girl you're gonna make me drop my ice cream!"He said laughing.

"Mhmm. The best." Smiling as she took another bite, Layne looked back to Devin. "Yes, only /about/ even." She giggled a bit, walking backwards to talk to him. "Haha. That'd be hilarious. And then you'd have no ice cream 'cause that guy would've left," Giggling more, she continued to walk. Well, it was good that he was happy again. Running a bit back to him, she poked him in the rib before shouting "You're it!" With a tight grasp on her ice cream, Layne took off, running as fast as she could -- In jeans -- down the boardwalk. She didn't look back until she was sure she'd ran for awhile. "Catch me if you can!" she exclaimed to him, panting because she was out of breath. A very big grin was apparent on her face.
