Okay. I'll admit it. Rachel felt guilty about Danny, somewhere in the back of her mind. She had even brushed contact with the thought that she should TELL Scott---but that was crazy. She had convinced herself that what they were doing tonight was a casual dinner between friends, and not a date. Someone is living in the land of denial... and it would be Rachel. She felt as if she couldn't get the taste or scent of Danny off her--couldn't erase the memory of that sunset, or his lips on her neck. She felt dirty, but nevertheless she'd hold her head high. Nothing would knock her down from her throne--and if Scott knew, she would apologize profusely. They could be friends... right? She took extra care in getting ready--her makeup was light, her lipstick was an shimmery antique rose color. The hair was down in shining waterfall curls, falling beyond her shoulders. She had decided on casual-chic, wearing a light, satiny C & C California wrap dress with long sleeves. She carried her usual chunky Prada hobo bag, and was wearing plain black patent leather Jimmy Choo heels. She looked gorgeous but felt only dread as she pulled up... caught the elevator... walked along the hallway... rang the doorbell.. and waited to be buzzed in.

Scott's head jerked up from the book he was reading, a smile on his face. Slowly standing, he groaned lightly at the popping of his back. Yes, his back. That boy cracked everything in his body; knuckles, neck, back, elbows, wrists, toes. You name it, Scott can crack it.
Moving to the door, he checked himself in his hallway mirror one last time. His brown hair was styled into the latest fashion; a faux-hawk. His brown eyes were (as usual) covered by his glasses. A lightblue dress shirt was on, not tucked in. Keep it halfway casual, half-way formal, right? Black pants, black tie, shoes.
Pausing at the door, he sighed deeply before pulling it open, his breath catching in his throat as he looked at Rachel. Swallowing fear and self-consiousness (since when is Scott self-consious?!), Scott grinned. "You look nice."

"Thanks..." She bit her lip upon entering, still holding her bag against her side. "Your apartment is nice." Rachel said, glancing around and doing a 360 to take in the full view. Not a little guilty, honey. Really guilty. Was she going to break up with a guy she had just started something with? No, that would be cruel, though this dinner proved he was interested in her. Could she say she just wanted to be single? Nah, she had kissed him... she could pass that off as a fling, though... Ugh. Boy issues suck ass.

"Thanks." He said, smiling. "Dinner isn't done yet, but it will be soon." He told her, nodding. "So we have about 20 minutes or so to kill." He finished up, blinking. Stealing a look at her, he turned to his feet. "We could.. start a movie or something." He told her, glancing back up. "Or we could sit down and talk. Whatever works for you." Scott murmured. He glanced back down to his shoes. Girls like Rachel were hard on the poor boy. Girls like Rachel were so.. different than he was. Scott looked back up. "Or.. not." He shrugged, shifting his weight from foot to foot anxiously.

"Yeah, a movie sounds good." Rachel said, blushing at her shoes--a rare oddity. When she looked back up, her face had a resigned expression on it, and her eyes were blazing. "Something wrong?" She said.
ooc; Aack, short. Also--I know this is the wrong account. Haha.

"Alright, a movie." He was also looking at his shoes. AT her next question, his head shot up. "Wrong? No, nothing's... wrong." He told her, cupping her chin in his hand, and raising her head so that she was looking at him. "What movie?" He asked simply, brushing the awkward moment past them with a breeze.

"Oh, okay." She replied, looking up into his gorgeous eyes. No, she wouldn't get hypnotized by those again... or maybe she could. "Any movie that's not from the last five years... movies have been making quite a decline." She said with a laugh, letting the awkward moment pass as well. It was a pain in her ass not to get this off her chest, but what would Scott do if she DID?

His eyes softened. "Is something wrong?" He asked her, his expression concerned. "You seem... diatant." He murmured, keeping his hand light on her chin. Blinking, he smiled about the movie comment. "I'll show you my collection and you can pick... after you tell me what's troubling you, however." He told her stubbornly. "Because I can tell something's up." He finished, blinking again.

"Yeah? Well, something is--so I might as well tell you or I'll be feeling shitty for the rest of my life, and you're lucky I'm even admitting I feel guilty." She said, pulling away and looking at the floor.
"I just... I kissed another guy and I feel horrible about it, but I knew it would happen, and I just don't know..." She said, trailing off, not sure how to put what exactly she was feeling into words. The guy cared about her--she didn't want to break a heart, or get screamed at about being bitchy.

Scott smiled. "I know. I heard from Andy, who heard from someone or another. Word travels fast in the O.C." He smiled at her again, before kissing her lightly. "I'm glad you told me, Rachel." He whispered before kissing her again.
ooc": Short and sweet, no?

"Uhm..." She said before he kissed her. Rachel stopped short, speechless. Was he forgiving her? Was that a good thing? She had no idea. Had she even had the twisted thought that he'd break up with her because of this? So she could run and be with Danny? Did she even WANT Danny? Because he was cute and sweet and wanted to take her to dinner on the beach? Both of the guys were hugely interested in her, she realized, and she didn't want more than friendship with either. She pulled back and looked down. "Scott..."

He ran a hand along her cheek before lifting his head up once more to look into her eyes. "I know." He murmured. And this time, Scott was the one to drop his gaze. "I'm sorry." Adverting his eyes, he pulled back. "I really am, you know." He told her.

She sat down. "Why are you sorry? I should be sorry. I'm just so fucked up." She put her head in her hands, having a rare, honest moment. "I'm sorry that I kissed another guy, and I'm sorry to have to do this--but I think maybe we should be friends. Just for now. I don't know what I want, and I don't want to mess things up for you." She glanced up at him. "I think we can really be friends, Scott. I'm not lying."
