"Liar." Jeremy sneered. Rachel had told him all about the encounter with Lindsey--it didn't really bother him, but it was true that this girl better watch her step while dealing with his sister. "First off--Rachel isn't nice, never. But she's brilliant. You were flirting with her boyfriend, so it's natural that she snapped back at you, and you pretended not to be intimidated and walked out. So she hates you. I get it."

"Pretended? Nope. I'm not intimidated by her. She has no idea who she's dealing with. But, after realizing they were together, I decided to be the bigger person, and leave without causing a scene." Lindsey licked her lips. "And how was I supposed to know that my neighbor was her boyfriend? I just moved here." Lindsey shook her head, and nibbled her lip, maintaining eye contact with Jeremy.

"Nah, Lindsey, I don't think you know who you're dealing with. The bottom line is that you just moved here, and Rachel has everyone behind her that has lived here forever. Money, power, class. You're just a bitch that means nothing to her, and you can't break someone who thinks nothing of you." He held her gaze.
His sister or Lindsey: He'd pick his sister.

Lindsey rolled her eyes, wanting to get off the subject of that bitch. "Is this your version of flirting?" Lindsey crossed her right leg over her left leg and jiggled her foot, a habit she's always had.

"It started out as that, but now I really don't know who you are, and I don't know what this is." He shook his head, anger consuming him. His sister was one of those rare things that meant something to him, and if this girl was gonna mess with her and break her heart--well, then he wanted absolutely nothing to do with her. He didn't know her, at all.

Lindsey shrugged not knowing what to say, "I don't want to fight with you sister. And I didn't want to hurt her. I never knew she even existed until she came in here when I was just sitting with Danny." She slipped her thumb into the waistband of her jeans, rubbing her Tinkerbell tattoo, "I flirt because it's something that comes natural. I don't try to do it, it's like an instinct."

"Well, I get the impression that you want to make an impression." He nodded. "But in the O.C., there's only one way to make a splash. And that's a cat fight--or flirting with another girl's boyfriend. There's no such thing as the 'bigger person.' I mean, I'm not encouraging, but..." He said, shaking his head adorably.

Lindsey shrugged it off, "I'm not going to start anything unless I have to, okay?" She decided to change subjects, "So, tell me more about yourself, Jeremy." His name rolled smoothly off her tounge.

"Me? Oh. I go to film school at NYU, with a second major in photography. It's kind of my life. I love NYU, because it isn't as stuck-up at this fucking town. It doesn't get old, you know?"
Erm. Sure she knew.
"So, Linds--" Guess he adopted a nickname for her... "What's your story?"

"Intruiging...", she said, listening to him. She ran her fingers through her hair, "Me? Well, I was born and raised in the Hamptons by a fortune 500 company owner and socialite, who are totally high strung and stressful. I couldn't focus on what was important for me, so I moved here." She smiled, "Daddy bought me an ocean front house. But yea, now I can focus on my lacrosse so I can make all-american."

Oh, so she was one of those 'Daddy-bought-me-this' girls? Well, that wasn't exactly as refreshing as he had hoped, because there were plently of those girls here. He'd just have to see exactly how much she wanted him. He flashed a million dollar smile, the kind that made all the girls weak at the knees.
"A nice house? I'd love to see it." He grinned mischeviously.

"Maybe you'll get a chance to", her lips curled slowly into a playful smile, "If you play your cards right." She took another sip of her cappuchino, then scooped up some whipped cream on her pinky and licked it off slowly.

Erm, okay. Play his cards right? Who did she think she was? Jeremy basically had his pick of the gorgeous girls all over the island. If she played HER cards right, she'd get to keep talking to him. He liked girls that played nice and hard to get at the same time, and he'd had girls that acted like Lindsey. In the end they always made themselves look like sluts. "Erm. If you play your cards right." He said, half to himself.

Lindsey wrinkled her nose a bit at his remark. She didn't really get intruiged by guys like him. She wasn't about to give it up to him but she liked to make him think she will. She ran her fingers through her brown hair and sighed, "Anyways..."

Jeremy grinned, seeing it written all over her face. Everything. He smirked. "Well, I'm going to go." He said, maintaining the semi-evil smile on his face, deliberately not saying "I have to go," or "See you." He turned and walked out, leaving his coffee on the table.
