10 minutes had past since he asked a compromise, and the two had sat in silence, only to be broken by the DVD version of Grease. Elizabeth hadn’t moved. Which was very shocking, usually she couldn’t sit still, unless she was applying make up, for more then five minutes. Some part of her body had to move. But she didn’t dare it. The slightest body movement could give the wrong impression. E had no intention of make such a promise, because she knew damn well that she would regret it latter.
Elizabeth wouldn’t hold such a promise; she liked to feel needed and useful. She couldn’t have him be completely independent. Didn’t his dad use to bail him out of shit? Couldn’t she play his role, just a few times? Elizabeth shifted ever so genteelly to look at the clock. 11 minutes had past.

It had been a while since he'd asked her to make that promise to him, and frankly, Colby was getting a bit antsy and impatient. He kept looking at her, waiting. Seeing as she wasn't going to, he shifted away from her, setting his elbow on the couch handle and placing his chin atop. His grey-blue eyes stared at the television, but he wasn't exactly seeing what was upon it.
"I never liked the fact that my dad had to help me," he said suddenly, slowly. "He mostly only found out through digging of his own. I need to do things for myself but whatever..." he trailed off, standing up and stretching. "I'll be right back," he finished, walking in the direction of the kitchen and disappearing inside. Elizabeth listened to him and then watched him go. Her heart skipped a beat the moment he left the room, and she fell back on the couch and closed her eyes. One of her feet touched the floor; they other lay out in front of her. For such a short girl, she had damn long legs.
Elizabeth pulled her hair out of the pigtails and let it sprawl out behind her. Once her eyes were closed, you could see what made them pop out and made them so warm. A thin line of gold MAC eyeliner was done across her lashes. In that 30 seconds, Elizabeth looked serene, and in peace. Oh damn

Although he'd brought out a couple bottles of water with him when he'd gone to watch the movie, Colby was now holding another one as he leaned against the counter. He twisted the cap off, taking a hearty swig of the icy liquid. His mind was deep in thought, wondering what he could do about the whole Elizabeth situation. Why didn't she understand that he was independent? Having his girl paying off his debts was not something he could live with. It wasn't that he was a male chauvanist that expected a woman to be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen; he just liked paying his own way. A woman could do whatever she wanted for herself, but when it came to his finances, he would get himself out of the messes his dad wasn't around to fix.
He didn't return to the living room until he had discarded of the now empty water bottle, his hands stuffed into the pockets of his jeans and his bare feet padding silently against the floor as he walked. Glancing down at the laid out Elizabeth, he smiled slightly, thinking she looked serenely beautiful. Oh well, he couldn't exactly change his mind about the whole issue. If he got into trouble again, he wasn't going to tell her.
Taking a seat on the floor in front of her, he laid his back against the sofa, one foot stretched out and one bent upward at the knee. His eyes travelled to the television, half-watching the scene when the song 'Hopelessly Devoted To You' was being sang.

Elizabeth hadn’t noticed the song, but she had noticed Cole. The way he hadn’t disturbed her was kind of…cute. Elizabeth reached out and stroked the tip of his ear and tapped his neck twice. And then she opened her eyes and said,
“Listen, I don’t expect to do everything for you, and I’m not going to. But,” She took a pause, thinking. “If you ever need help, I’m right here. Always.” Elizabeth touched the tip of his ear again, thinking about the past couple days they had together. They had already been in one, um, period of time when she wasn’t happy with him, and honestly, it was horrible. There would be very few more of those. There had been the time before that, the lunch date they broke together, the club, and when they first meet, and Rachel’s party. She was going to send flowers to that girl; Rachel’s party had made life a hell of a lot better…

Feeling Elizabeth's fingers on his ear and neck, Colby tilted his head back so he could look at her. He listened intently to what she had to say before giving a slow nod. "If I get in too deep, and I've ran out of options, then I'll possibly ask you," he said, not really accepting. "Kinda hard to accept stuff from people..." he trailed off, shrugging. "Even more so since you're my girlfriend. You've already spent alot on me."
Scratching lightly at his head, he picked up the remote, switching off the television. "You going to stay here tonight?" he asked, peering at her through the darkness.

Elizabeth sat up and leaned down to kiss him, not hot and heavy but a…Your-So-Fucking-Amazing kiss. As she pulled back to speak she let her lips almost brush against his as she spoke.
“I’ll stay…If you want me to stay…” She mumbled, closing her eyes and touching her forehead to him. The moment she had touched him, her head cleared. She knew exactly what she wanted to do tonight. She wanted to pick up where they had left off, she wasn’t sure she would be moving as fast as she had then, but Elizabeth didn’t plan on letting this night be just cuddling.

Returning her kiss, Colby lightly licked her lips as she spoke, loving the feel of them. He had only been partially listening to her, lightly nibbling on her lower lip. "Of course I want you to stay," he murmured, his forehead set against hers as well.
His hand had lifted up, gently stroking her face. "You can take my bed and I'll take the couch," he said, not so sure she wanted to sleep in the same bed with him. Either way, he didn't mind. Just knowing she was around, was enough to make him feel good. "What you doing tomorrow?" he questioned, wondering if they could go do something in the afternoon. Maybe hit the beach or maybe he could take her shopping instead. He was sure she'd enjoy the latter.

Elizabeth felt his tongue against her lips and it took some time before what he said registered in her mind. “You didn’t want to sleep with me?” Elizabeth asked, her eyes now adjusted to the darkness.
“I don’t think it would be very gentlemen-like of you to leave your girlfriend in your room where a murderous band of squirrels could come kill her, Do you?” The matter-of-fact tone was one of Elizabeth’s favorites to use especially when speaking about murderous band of small animals. Elizabeth shifted the weight on her legs from right to left, then continued,
“Honestly, I think it’s kind of rude.” She tired, tired so hard to keep her serious tone. But damn it, when you’re talking about murderous squirrels…Elizabeth first crack a smile, and then began to giggle like a giddy schoolgirl.

"I never said that," Colby stated, shaking his head in the negative. "Of course I want to sleep with you but I wasn't so sure you'd want me to," he shrugged just before she made the comment about the squirrels. He chuckled, noting she had a playful side. This was a first. When did he see the humour in anything? Her laughter was pretty infectious.
"Don't worry," he cooed, a straight look on his face. "I'll protect you. Don't have a strong security system on my computer for nothing," he winked, just before standing up. "Come on. I gotta hit the sack because Imma be doing some early work tomorrow," he informed, scooping her up into his arms and carrying her in the direction of the bedroom. "Hmm, you gonna be sleepin' in my clothes?"

Feeling him pick her up, she wrapped her arms around his neck, and laid her head on his cheat. A thousand thoughts ran through her head. Was he trying to tell her he didn’t wanna go at it tonight? And what did he mean work? Elizabeth didn’t want to ask but damn it…
“Whatca mean by that?” Elizabeth asked him, moving her head from his cheat to look up at him. Her eyes were a misty shade of brown, no sleep and a little bottle of Jack Daniels can do that for you. Scotch before for their non-happened date. No sleep the night before that. Pitty.

Setting Elizabeth down atop the bed, Colby started to strip down to his boxers. He couldn't sleep in anything but one article of clothing. "Mmm?" he asked, climbing into the bed beside her but laying atop his stomach, propped up on his forearms and elbows. "I have this program I'm working on for this lady. No, it isn't anything illegal," he smirked, knowing she was probably thinking that. "Not everything I do has to do with viruses and hackings."
"You tired?" he asked her, having noticed the hue of her eyes. He set his head on his forearms, intently watching her.

Sliding underneath his covers, Elizabeth watched as Cole stripped and got into bed. Ok more she had been starring at him, and all of his gorgeous-ness.
“Only A little. I don’t feel as tired as a look, usually. Do I look it?” Elizabeth reached under to her jeans, and undid them, sliding out of them. She wadded them up and threw them out to where Cole’s floor.
“I’m a mess…” Elizabeth sighed and undid the tie, which she had totally forgotten about until now, and threw onto the floor with her jeans. She remembered his question from earlier “I figured I was going to spend the day with you, unless of course you’re busy. Then I would go home, eat Chinese and watch random movies all day.”

Shrugging lightly, Cole moved up more on the bed until his head was atop the second pillow. He turned unto his side, eyes drooped, but not out of tiredness. "Naw, you don't look a mess," he murmured assuringly, stroking her face. "You just looked sorta sleepy so I was wondering," he informed, getting close to her and slinging an arm across her waist.
After a kiss to her temple, he settled his head against the crook of her neck. "You're soft," he said quietly, his fingers slowly trailing her arm. "And cool. I don't have to work on the program too long. I can put in an hour or so then devote the rest of my day to you."

“Cole…”She started, his touch did something to her, and she wasn’t sure what but it did. She had an urge to confess every horrible thing she had done in her life. “You’re sweet, and wonderful. And I’m really into you…just…” She wasn’t sure how to some up her thoughts. How to say it… “Don’t break my heart.”
It had been that second in time when Elizabeth made a promise to her self. She was going to be a good girlfriend to Colby. She wasn’t going to randomly flirt with men. She wasn’t going to be a bitch because he won’t be her lap dog. Colby was going to be good for her, she could tell.
