Re-opening his eyes when Elizabeth made that plea to him, Colby paused his fingers at her elbow. He brought his hand around to her face, gently holding her chin between his index finger and thumb. "I'd never do anything to intentionally hurt you," he promised softly, his grey-blue eyes looking into hers. "I won't break your heart."
He kissed her then, a soft, sweet thing which showed the depths of his feelings for her. No, it wasn't love. It was something deep though. Pulling his lips back, he kept his forehead against hers, his hand having moved to the back of her neck, his thumb drawing small circles at the nape.

Elizabeth listened to his words, and felt his gentle kiss. Cole was a good man, with minor flaws, and Elizabeth had made the right choice. She had zero regrets for the little time they had spent together. Even through the whole programming thing. Her parents were going to love him, her brother and him would be friends, and Elizabeth would kick her sister ass if she even looked at Cole the wrong way.
Elizabeth didn’t plan on spending the rest of her life with Cole, but perhaps a portion of the time she had before she left the OC for college. She going to go, but that was just a few months from now. She had already applied to a fashion and design school, and a tech school, and Brown for no apparent reason except the fact she needed a fall back place and her father donates there.

Smiling slightly, Cole closed his eyes, pulling her close to him. "Night Elizabeth," he murmured, his hand slipping back down to the small of her back and staying there. He breathed evenly, wondering about this Cotillion thing. Maybe he could ask his parents to come out to Orange County, but he wasn't so sure if that would be possible or not. Either way, he planned to have fun that night. The night would be better if Clyde managed to make the trip, but as far as he knew, his oldest brother was still fighting that damn war.
Shaking away his thoughts, he sighed inwardly, before starting to slip into sleep.
