Watching her walk towards the shops, Cole looked away when she'd disappeared into one, a thoughtful mask slipping into place upon his face. Things were...odd, with this girl. He had a girlfriend, but yet he kept forgetting that fact. Maybe it was because he didn't know where him and Liz stood? Now was not the time to think about that though -- later, when she had the time for him. Randomly, he was wondering if Layne had a cellphone. Since Elizabeth, he was growing to hate those things. There was only that one night she'd pushed it aside for him, but other than that, the gadget seemed to come before him; always. It was annoying.
When Layne returned, he hopped off the rail, fetching up both his sneakers and his other shirt. "Yeah, we shall," he smirked, going around the railing. Shortcuts. Such lovely inventions. "So, tell me a bit more about yourself. How old are you?" he asked, starting to move in the direction of the beach sands.

Layne watched him grab his things. They began to walk, and Layne looked over to him. "Well, I'm seventeen. I'm an only child, not the spoiled kind though, and I love to sing. It's pretty much my life, But I do like to do things like this every once and awhile too." She stopped, smiling brightly. Cole was so.... indescribable. He was hot as hell and a sweetheart. How often did you find someone like him? Never, that was the answer. "I guess that's the good thing about being new. I have time to just.... hang."
As the pair -- well, they looked like a pair -- neared the sand, Layne kicked off her flip flops and picked them up, carrying them along side herself. The sand was warm, and Layne couldn't believe that after two weeks of living here, this was her first time going to the beach. "So this is why people come here," she beamed, looking up to Cole. Layne turned and faced him. "So what about you, Mr? Anything fit your fancy?" she asked, tossing her shoes down onto the ground. She'd have little use for them in the water. Layne debated whether to strip down right here and jump in, or make something more fun out of it. She chose to let Cole decide.

“I do NOT have time to fly out of the country…I’m on a secret mission…Well…no…I’m spying on my sister’s boyfriend…. WELL! Um…I’m not at liberty to say. Yesss. I will. Bye, mom.”
Adrienne clicked off her phone, and peered behind the small shack. Adrienne wasn’t really spying on them, she had been her first. She had seen Both of them wind up here, and Adrienne, being the better person, decided to do a little back-watching. And since, Adrienne has gone all Charlie’s Angles on the situation, recording her finding on her phone with her nifty little organizer. Ok. Yea. It was a little weird. But so with this Cole creep. He was so serious, and whenever Elizabeth seemed to have an out of state problem he didn’t get it. And that stupid model excuse. The had declined her weeks before that. In truth, she had been being sued in New York. But no way and hell was she telling this to Cole. Oh no. Elizabeth had to be all-great girlfriend like. Whatever.

"My cousin Amber's an only child too. Maybe I could introduce you two sometime. Sure she grates on my nerves, but I think you two might get along," Cole nodded, smiling a bit. "She's an artist. Paints, sketches. Pretty good when it comes to creating unique things." Nodding slowly at her response, he said, "Yeah, you're right. Though I've been busy since coming here. With...stuff." And that stuff was Elizabeth. He'd been hanging with her more than anybody else...well, in the times she didn't evaporate into thin air without notice. Inwardly, he sighed.
"Anything fit my fancy?" he asked her, dropping his sneakers and shirt, thinking that over before shrugging. "Not really," he said non-commitaly, tugging off his wife beater, carelessly allowing it to fall unto the sands. Unbuttoning his jeans, he tugged them off, stepping out of it, stretching upwards right after. "Anyway. I'm getting in. You coming? Or going to be like some of the other Orange County girls and just...get a tan?" he asked, walking away from her and towards the water. Brushing his hands over the waist of his white board shorts, which sported blue flames along the bottoms, he turned to look at Layne, wondering if she was coming or not.

"Mhmm, suuure," she mused, referring to his interests. "Oh really? I draw, mainly, but also experiment with chalk and oil pastels if I feel like it." Layne shrugged. She watched as the boy undressed, and couldn't help but admire his toned body. "Of course i'm coming in, what fun would watching be?" She giggled, sliding the cami she wore up and over her head, thus revealing a recently purchased coral bikini, which clung to her frame rather attractively and exposed her stomach muscles, which were there, but didn't look bodybuilder-ish. Next, Layne took off her shorts, tossing them beside her shirt, which sank into the sand. Good thing her hair had been pulled back, for otherwise it may have looked horrible. She skipped ahead of him, only before looking back on her shoulder. "Coming?" asked Layne, letting the water tickle her feet. She'd wait for him to join her before diving in.

"Pssh. There's much fun to be gotten by watching me," Cole lightly joked, rubbing at one of the tattoos on his arm. They grew on him, even though getting them in the first place had been a mistake. Allowing his toes to sink into the wet sand, he wiggled them lightly before moving further out into the water. Settling waist-deep, he gently swirled his fingers within the gentle waves before full out diving in, disappearing beneath the depths.
Breaking the surface a couple minutes later, deeper out in the sea though, he turned unto his back. His hair was sticking in clomps against his face, seeming rather dark instead of blonde. Breaking from his thoughts, he only just then looked to see where Layne was, having not been paying attention for a few minutes.

The girl giggled, watching Cole be himself.. as usual. She took the opportunity to scope out those around her as he dove into the water. Despite the many on-goer's of O.C, not many were swimming. Oh well, you're all alone. Make your move.., her thoughts chimed in. She was glad they had been gone, and sighed inwardly as they joined her again. Shifting her weight, Layne crossed her arms and waited a moment. She saw him come up for air, and waded into the water until it reached her collarbone. "Very nice," she responded, smirking. It was her turn now. Flipping back on her hands, Layne slid into the water, encircling him a few times. She arose minutes later, running her hands through her now wet hair. Layne was grinning now. No words could be spoken, so Layne just stood there, toes in the refreshing water, looking up and smiling at the boy.

"Very nice? I hope you mean me by that," Cole lightly joked, watching her disappear beneath the water just then. Did he joke around this much when he was with Elizabeth? Frankly, he couldn't recall. Not moving when Layne began swimming around him, he instead took to slicking from hair from off his forehead -- which reminded him, he needed a haircut. As she emerged, he turned, scanning her face with a thoughtful gaze. Hmm. "So Miss Layne. How you enjoying the O.C. so far?" he questioned her. It wasn't what he had been about to say, but it worked nonetheless. He'd been meaning to ask her that anyway...

"But of course," she mused, in a dramatic tone. She smiled lightly, wading once more in the water as to cover the small tatoo she exposed on her lower hip. Getting it was one thing, but flaunting it; not so much. "Well," she started, trailing her fingers in the water. "You might say that. But afterall, I've only been here but a few weeks" Layne shrugged. "I'd ask you the same, but this isn't an interview, is it?" She joked only because she found it fun. This whole day had been fun, what wasn't to joke about? Maybe the fact that being new, finding friends, and owning her own place all seemed too real? Maybe, Maybe. "Curious, are we?" Layne said, beginning to float on her back. It had been so long since she had swam that she almost sunk at first (how poised, right?) but eventually got the hang of it; or so she thought.

"Pssh, whatever," Cole said, splashing a bit of water towards her face. "Yeah, of course I'm curious. I wouldn't be asking if I wasn't right?" he smirked, watching her floating. A mischievous look crossed his face, and he swam around to behind her, wrapping his arms around her. "Looked like you were drowning," he stated innocently, just then dunking her beneath the water with him.

ooc: Eeek. No matter, I liked it none the less.^^ bic: Sure, Layne may have splashed back, but being dunked under the water seemed to disrupt her plans. Opening her eyes under the water, she looked at him, wanting revenge without being.... suggestive, hm? Well... maybe just a little. Layne placed her hands along his jawline, still under the water, and moved his head side to side in the negative. She wasn't sure why she did this, but she felt tingles as she touched his skin. It was like a spark, but definately in a good way. As they both came up for air, she stared long and hard at him. "Bad boy," said Layne, and then giggled, clapping her hands on the watertop. This caused little waves to surface, and the girl was very amused. Looking back at the boy through matching blue-grey eyes, she said "Cool, huh?"

Ooc:||Hehe, okies then x)
Bic:||Unsure of what she meant by moving his head in that manner, Cole merely stared at her beneath the water, noting the way loose tendrils of her hair were held upright by the currents. She was a beautiful girl, even he couldn't deny that. Elizabeth. The name sprang into his head suddenly, and he closed his eyes, thinking about what he was doing. What was he doing? He didn't know, but one thing was for certain, he was having a lot of fun with this girl. Her and Elizabeth were two different individuals, but he enjoyed their company either way. For unique reasons. This was getting fucking complicated...
Breaking the surface along with her, he stuck his tongue out childishly. "I, my friend, am not a bad boy. That's Ryder's area of expertise," he smirked, curiously following the movements she made upon the water. "Riiiight," he chuckled. "You're an odd one aren't you? Stay that way," he smiled. "So...a girl like you has a boyfriend right?" he asked, raising his brows. Had to. Who wouldn't have snatched her up by now?

Layne smiled so brightly that it almost hurt her cheeks. Which trust me, was odd, but her heart was beating so fast. She very well may have kissed him right then and there, but having still not asked him whether he was taken or not, she decided to be poised and restrain herself. How very hard. "You better watch that tounge, boy." she began, sitting back into the water. Layne pouted niavely, responding to his silly words. "Why yes, yes I am. And I do intend to stay this way," She bit the inside of her lip, wanting to scream out 'HELL NO' but had to remain calm on the outside. "A girl like me?" she teased, bringing a small hand to her chest. "Nope." she replied, bubbly as ever. Her smile remained. Why be ashamed of not having a boy-toy? She was new, she was 'odd', so it was allowed. (:

Smile turning his lips upward, Cole asked, "And if I don't?" to her comment about him watching his tongue. He grinned, thinking her pout rather cute though not mentioning it. What the hell was going on with him? He might have to get up and leave soon... Or else he'd have something to explain later to Elizabeth. Or... Ugh. Everything about today was confusing...yet felt so right and good at the same time.
"That's surprising. If I were single, I might have went after you," he murmured, just then backstroking to shore. Laying out on the sands on his back, he closed his eyes, once again thoughtful. There, he'd said it. She now knew he had somebody... Now what?
