“Time and time again, I’ve told you that I’d be here. When you open your damn eyes, I’m sure you will see it.” Spencer sat on the soft, leather couch of her home, reciting the words from the show she had been watching practically all day. She was home alone yet again. What a surprise. Her brothers had finally some home last night to crash but when Spencer had woken up this morning, she found they were gone along with both of her parents, a simple note reading ‘Work.’ Was left on the counter. A pint of vanilla ice cream sat in her lap, a spoon stuck in the frozen treat as Spencer’s hand had been wrapped around its handle. Her eyes were fixed to the screen, not a blink was made.
A commercial had finally interrupted the show, causing Spencer’s eyes to drop from the screen and look down into the carton of ice cream in her lap as she spooned a good amount of it and shoved it into her mouth. If anything you’d think Spencer was depressed or having a really hard time trying to get her life under control, but really she was just bored as hell. She had nothing to do, no one to talk to and nowhere to go. Her dinner with Ryder the night before had been great, but today was a day for him to spend a little time with his family members. She wasn’t his whole world and understood completely. She’d hate knowing that he was spend all, and I mean /all/ of his time with her when there were other people out there who cared for him just as much.
Still in her pajamas, which consisted of a pair of black soffees and a plain white t-shirt that really belonged to her brother, Spencer capped the ice cream carton and made her way back towards the kitchen. Opening the freezer, a cool gust of wind blew across her face and Spencer set the dessert inside. After closing it, she made her way back to the living room and jumped back onto the couch, pulling a blanket over her legs and waited for her show to come back on. But her ears where open as well as her eyes, hoping for a call or maybe a quick visit from a friend.

Standing on the Carlin porch, right in front of the door, a stranger reached out his hand and rang the doorbell. He tilted his head to the side, causing some raven-black hair, naturally tipped with red to fall in that direction. His hair was about chin-length, though shorter in the back than the front. It flopped unto his face, half-obstructing his caramel brown eyes.
Taking the hand from the door, he scratched lightly at his five o clock shadow before transferring the small emerald green giftbag from his left to his right hand. Now only a bouquet of orange-yellow daffodils lay cradled in his arm, gently, like one would hold a baby. A card was attached which said 'Thinking of You. As Always', in a surprisingly small but legible print. It was surprising being that a male had written it.
The guy had on a uniform which consisted of khaki slacks and a white shirt trimmed with navy blue. He stood at about 6'4", and rather well built at that. To most people, he would be considered quite the looker. The little van he drove was parked before the Carlin residence, the words 'Madeline's Garden' emblazoned in black across the white on either side of the vehicle. Patiently, he waited for a reply, needing to make this delivery before going to do the others. It wasn't the best of jobs, but it did pay rather well.

Spencer looked up from her show and over to the front door after hearing the doorbell ring. Moving a hand towards the remote that lay at her side, she pressed the red ‘off’ button causing the TV to turn off and she stood from the couch. Throwing the remote back onto the couch, Spencer made her way towards the door. Upon reaching it, she reached out a hand and took hold of the brass doorknob, twisting it and pulling open the heavy door.
Her eyes laid upon those of some sort of a deliveryman. Looking behind him she noticed a van and only then did she smile at the man. “Good morning.” She stated, eyeing the bouquet of flowers that rest in his hand. Nothing was on her mind at the moment. She wasn’t thinking of who had sent the flowers or for whom they were for. Spencer shifted her weight from one foot to the other, placing a restless hand on her right hip and looked straight into the males eyes before her, waiting for a responce.

Smiling at the young lady who opened the door, Ashley said "Morning to your too." He put out a clipboard for her to sign, already knowing it was the person he was to deliver the items to. The young man sure gave a right-on description. She was beautiful, that was for sure. If that counted for anything coming from the thoughts of a gay man. "I just need you to sign there under the dotted line, and then I can be on my way," he murmured, waiting for her to be through with that so that he could hand over the items.
"The gentleman who gave me these for you. A real cutie-pie to tell the truth," he smirked. "Anyway, he told me to tell you that you're supposed to take whatever is in that giftbag and listen to number two. I'm assuming it's a CD," he shrugged. It was too, being 'Back to Bedlam' by James Blunt. Track number two was in fact his hit single 'You're Beautiful'. "Oh, and he also said that if you weren't smiling, I was supposed to tell you to do so. Honestly sweetie, you have a beautiful smile. I don't know if that counts since it's coming from a gay man," he laughed.

Spencer smiled and took the clipboard from his hand. Holding the pen within her grasp she quickly signed the form, now realizing the items were for her and it was plain to see that most likely they were from Ryder. After her signature had been displayed on the sheet, she held out the clipboard to the man with another smile. She had tried to remember the last time she had ever received gifts from a delivery-boy. Let’s see...never. It made her feel special and loved. It made her then realize that people were out there who thought of her and if it was anyone, she was glad it had been Ryder.
Spencer laughed at his comment, assuming he must be gay as she listened to the tone of his voice in the words he spoke. “I think he is a real cutie-pie too, love.” Spencer said with a wide grin. “A CD huh? Well then, I think I will definitely listen to number two, then. Well maybe a couple of minutes ago I hadn’t been smiling, but now it is hard to resist. I’m receiving gifts from someone I know honestly cares about me, and from such a gentleman.” Spencer said, widening her smile to prove her point and then let out a soft laugh. “Thank you for that complement, it is always nice to get one whether someone is straight, gay, male, female, black, white, anything.” She said with a smirk.

Accepting the clipboard back, the delivery-guy handed over the items, grinning. "Pssh, I'd give you a run for your money if I was that type of guy," he chuckled. "I'm pretty sure he's as straight as a post though," he added with slight faux moroseness. "Naw, just playing, and I'm sure he cares for you too. Otherwise you wouldn't be receiving gifts and I wouldn't have gotten a threat if you didn't get the items in good condition. I like a feisty guy." Winking at Spencer, he nodded. "That's good then. I only speak the truth. Anyway, I got some more stuff to go attend to. See ya honey."
Turning, he trotted down the stairs and then walked to his van. Climbing in, he drove off, leaving the Carlin residence. Somehow, he had a feeling that it wasn't going to be the last time he visited the place.

Spencer took hold of the objects and held them at her side, offering a small ‘thank you’ towards the man. With a laugh at his comment, Spencer set down the items in the doorway. “I am pretty sure Ryder is straighter that straight, but if he every decides to turn into a gay, I’ll remind him of you.” She said with a chuckle. “Thank you again, it puts more than a smile on my face to know he really does care.” She stated with a wide grin, once more taking the items within her small hands. “Okay, good luck to you today. Bye.” Spencer then walked into the house and shut the door behind her then walked to the couch, setting the things onto it.
She read the card that had been attached to the flowers and let out a smile. Then, pulling out the CD, Spencer walked over to the CD player that was set next to the TV on the entertainment stand. She opened its case and placed it inside the player, tuning it to track number two. She knew the song. She loved the song, and she felt overcome with some feeling that made her heart skip a beat once it had started to play. She stood next to the CD player, her hand rested upon it as she sang along with it silently.
