Layne sighed, leaning over the salt absorbent railing that seperated her from the shoreline. Today wasn't going too great. For one; the heat. It hadn't been this hot at this time of day in quite a long time. Second, no one was around. Layne looked down at the panting animal before her. It was her boxer, Hope. "It's okay, baby," Layne said softly, nuzzling the top of the dog's square head. She hated to see her puppy so frazzled by the heat, but Layne couldn't help but feel like she was going to meet someone today.

Tyler walked slowly along the ever-stretching boardwalk. Alone. It was weird, though, as Tyler seemed to be accompanied by someone...all the time. But not now. He was alone, in solitude...and any other phrase he could think of to mean the same. So...what was he going to do? He wasn't the one to come up with the best ideas. Maybe he'd find someone and they could figure something out to do. Hey look. A girl. Walking a bit closer to her, Tyler continued to stay quiet, but...maybe she'd notice him and start a conversation. Another sigh escaped pouted lips as Layne watched the young children throw wet sand at their sibilings' backs. She could remember doing that, but with much worse aim. Hey, she thought. Maybe I can go get an italian ice or something. She turned to her left, about to look down at Hope when -- she spotted a boy. Another lonely boy. How odd, she thought to herself, bending down slowly to make eye contact with her dog. "Should we talk to him?" Layne whispered ever so softly, sneaking another peek at the boy. Hope whined and then continued panting. "I guess that's a yes," she mused, rising to a full 5'6. She then grabbed Hope's leash and began making her way over to him. "Jeans? On a day like this?" she beamed, a warm smile on her face. It was then that she realized she too was wearing jeans. Great.

"Yes. That makes two of us, I guess," Tyler mused, glancing down at the pants she wore upon herself. "And, if I may ask, what sort of day is this?" he questioned, cocking his head to the side, and looking a bit like a confused puppy. Maybe she meant hot. But honestly, he had no idea. "I'm Tyler by the way," he added, nodding softly.

Layne felt her face tint a few shades pink, which was barely noticable, considering the weather. "I'd say the kind that makes the parents mad because the ice cream man is forced to go about a mile an hour down the parkway because so many kids want ice cream. It's the kind of day that makes dogs pant and public swimming pools fill up. That kind of day." Wow, she thought. Way to make a two word answer into a speech, Layne. Extending the hand that wasn't gripping Hope's leash, Layne smiled and piped up with "Layne."

[[yes, this is Tyler xD]]
"Nice to meet you, Layne. And I definitely get what you mean," Tyler said, bobbing his head up and down. "That's a cute dog you have," he pointed out, looking down at it. "Is it a boy or a girl?" he questioned, still examining the four-legges creature. It was pretty big--bigger than any dog he'd ever had. Of course, the only kind his parents allowed were Chihuahuas and Dachsunds. Nothing bigger than a loaf of bread.

"It's nice to meet you too, Tyler." She beamed, looking down at Hope the entire time. When he mentioned her, Layne looked up. "Her name is Hope, and she's a boxer. No, I won't let her hurt you, that is, unless you piss me off," Layne giggled, not meaning to offend him in any way. She looked up at him once more, examining the new friend she had made. Or, at least the friend she had attempted to make. "So, what's a fellow like you doing today?" Inquired Layne, scratching behind her dog's ear. "I'd think you'd be preparing for the cotillion."
